According to Bild, Norwegian goalkeeper Nyland gave an interview, stating that he did not return to Leipzig after three years to sit on the bench.

Nyland requests playing time
When asked about potential playing time, Nyland emphasized: "I do look forward to playing time. It's been the same for the past two years, with Gulacsi and Van der Voort both getting playing time. To be frank, I also hope to play as much as possible. I just proved my ability in a major tournament - I believe that speaks for itself."
Nyland performed brilliantly at the World Cup
Is Leipzig now facing a goalkeeper battle? The truth is: when Van der Voort was left out of Belgium's World Cup squad, Nyland played as Norway's number one goalkeeper and performed brilliantly.
"The game against Brazil was probably the best of my career," Nyland said. In the World Cup Round of 16 match against Brazil, he made some excellent saves to help his team advance to the next round and easily dealt with Neymar's provocations.
Speaking about leaving Sevilla as a free agent to participate in the World Cup, Nyland said, "It was risky, but it worked very well for me." Shortly after the World Cup, Leipzig contacted him and ultimately secured his return after the departure of club legend Gulacsi.
