Amid widespread criticism of FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the Argentine Football Association issued a statement expressing its firm support for him.

On behalf of the Argentine Football Association and its Executive Committee, I would like to express our unwavering support for the governance efforts of the past decade to His Excellency the President, and through you to the FIFA Council. At the heart of this decade has been the advancement of global football and the strengthening of the organization based on a clear, stable, and transparent governance model.

In light of this, and in light of the recent events that are well-known to the public, we must acknowledge FIFA's decision to withdraw a proposal that, from its inception, had generated far too much uncertainty rather than certainty within the football community.

Therefore, we should highly commend FIFA's management for acknowledging the mistakes made in this process and for expressing their sincere apology in the letter of apology issued to FIFA's 211 member associations. Prioritizing governance standards is a core cornerstone for strengthening the good relationship between FIFA, its member associations, and the continental football federations.

Similarly, as we have previously stated, the management team you are leading has facilitated profound changes within FIFA; opening the door to all member associations and continental federations, enabling us to work together to promote the development of football at all levels and in all competitions through frank and direct dialogue.

In our view, this transformation is built on a transparent governance model, respect for the bylaws, and adherence to democratic processes. These fundamental principles are key to ensuring the unity and unwavering commitment of the football family to continuous progress at both the competitive and institutional levels, progress that will benefit millions of people involved in the sport we love and improve their quality of life.

Therefore, with the next FIFA Congress approaching, the Argentine Football Association, which I am proud to lead, firmly believes and reiterates that the right path is to continue working under your leadership to further develop a better and more inclusive football.
