L'Équipe has obtained a confidential document detailing FIFA's proposal to its member associations for FIFA Forward Enterprise. This corporate plan existed before Infantino abandoned it and was unusual. The document is marked "Strictly Private and Confidential." FIFA had previously planned to sell a 21% stake for $10 billion.
The document quickly became outdated after Gianni Infantino announced on the night of July 31st, in the early morning of August 1st, that he was abandoning plans to create a FIFA commercial company. He explained at the time that the "proposal" had "caused divisions...and no longer served the original objectives." Subsequently, in a statement issued late Wednesday night, FIFA even admitted to "making a mistake" after a crisis meeting and apologized to its member associations—FIFA has 211 member associations—via letter.
