Brehme: I won't leave Juventus during difficult times; that would be like running away.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Brehme stated that he would not leave Juventus during a difficult time, "because that would be like running away."

"I did not ask Juventus to let me go," Bremer said clearly during an interview at the Juventus House space, which opened yesterday in downtown Perth.

“Especially when the club and I are both facing difficulties, I never thought of doing that. That would be like running away. If one day I part ways with Juventus, maybe when I'm older, I will walk out the front door with my head held high.”

Since returning from the World Cup in the United States, Brehme hasn't played a single minute for the Brazilian national team, but he is now preparing to return to his position as the core of Juventus' defense.

In the pre-season friendly against Chelsea, he made his first appearance of the season: "I'm in good form. Of course, not at my best yet, because I started preparing later. But I'll get back into match fitness soon, and I think I'm on the right track."

Speaking about his World Cup experience as a substitute, he said, "It was still a good experience. It's reasonable for Ancelotti to reward the players who helped the team qualify. It's okay, I'm still young, and I hope to be a protagonist in 2030."

Last season, Brehme regained consistent playing time after a torn ACL, an experience that left a deep mark on his career: "The first year after an injury is always tough. The good news is that everything is getting better now, and my body is responding as it should: I can feel that my reaction time after regaining fitness is much faster than in the previous months. Now I just need more consecutive games, I need to play."

Reflecting on the most difficult period after his injury against RB Leipzig on October 2, 2024, the Brazilian center-back said: "The worst part wasn't the moment of injury, but the nine-month recovery period. When I came back, I thought everything was over, but it was just the beginning of another journey that would bring me back to who I was before. I was confident I could achieve my goals, but only today am I truly certain. It wasn't always like that." He added: "There were some moments in matches where I worried I wouldn't make it. I'm talking about last season: my mind was ready, but my legs couldn't keep up. At that moment, I thought, 'Oh no.' Fortunately, I pulled through and made it through."

After missing out on the Champions League last season, Brehme also spoke about Juventus' goals: "The primary goal is to return to the Champions League. It doesn't matter whether it's through the league or the Europa League. In fact, qualifying through a cup competition might be more attractive because that would mean winning a trophy as well."

As Brehme put it, Juventus can't just be aiming for fourth place: "I'm happy to clarify that. I wasn't saying those things to find an excuse to leave. On the contrary, I was expressing my ambition: I won't be satisfied with just one Italian Cup in the trophy cabinet at the end of my career.
