According to German sports channel ARD, the Norwegian Football Association has demanded the resignation of Gianni Infantino. Following a meeting of the association's leadership to discuss the future of the FIFA president, President Lise Clavines stated at a press conference: "We are now demanding the resignation of the FIFA president."
Kravines added that Infantino "does not possess the institutional trust required to stably lead FIFA at this stage. There is no turning back for Gianni Infantino." The Norwegian Football Association president has long been one of FIFA's most vocal critics. Infantino plans to face a vote for re-election from the 211 member associations in March.
The coalition of 35 associations from North, Central America and the Caribbean had previously appeared to be aligned with UEFA, but the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) has now clearly shifted its support to Gianni Infantino: "The FMF supports President Infantino's leadership and continues to promote football by strengthening the organization," the association said in a statement on its website.
