According to L'Equipe, Diego Simeone made it clear at a press conference on Saturday that Atletico Madrid have no intention of selling Julian Alvarez. Barcelona and Real Madrid have both been trying to sign the former Argentine striker in recent weeks, raising concerns about the future of the 2026 World Cup runner-up.
Simeone said on Saturday, the day before Atletico Madrid traveled to Seoul, South Korea for a friendly match against Manchester City: "I think the situation is very clear. The club has made its decision, as (General Manager) Miguel Ángel Hill Marin explained. I am very happy to have a player like Julian. (...) We will help him continue to grow, improve, and play his best, which he has been doing for us for the past two years."
Atletico Madrid has maintained this stance since the start of the summer transfer window. Gil Marin stated on the club's channel that the team has rejected a €100 million offer. "Even an offer of €150 million or €200 million, we will not accept," he added. Alvarez's release clause is €500 million.
